![]() ![]() Late last year, EA announced plans to release multiple new sports franchises in the coming years. ![]() In the interview, Holt discussed next-gen basketball games, without revealing whether they'd mark a return to the NBA LIve series EA Sports has left dormant since 2018. Part of this expansion could come through offering a greater range of sporting games. More nebulously, Holt added that EA Sports will focus on the social aspects of playing its games, adding that it's creating "social networks" within its titles. There's been no word on whether EA might follow suit with its mainline console sports games. In the interview, Holt said that the expansion will involve "new business models, new geographies." The idea of new business models might cause some speculation, after FIFA's chief rival PES recently underwent a name change, ditched annual releases, and adopted a free-to-play model. In an interview with Axios, EA Sports General manager Daryl Holt said that the company has plans to get "even bigger - on mobile, in football, maybe even with basketball again." The company, known for publishing iconic sports games such as FIFA, Madden NFL, and NHL, says that it currently reaches an audience of over 230 million players but that it's trying to more than double that number to 500 million across the next five years. Regardless there will be a lot of high profile titles coming to EA Play PS4 in the future, such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and eventually the likes of Dragon Age 4.EA has big plans to expand its sports games over the next five years as it targets an audience of 500 million players. ![]() ![]() In the future we’d fully expect for EA Play to persist into the next-generation of consoles, especially as the PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games. Sadly however, not all of the games available on the Xbox version of EA Play will be available on the PS4 version of the service.
